For her Christmas Pop up Shop at John Jones, Miller has created an extraordinary range of work including ceramics, screen-printed cotton bags and cushions, greetings cards and original artworks, produced from her home, to enhance others. Drawing on personal memory, Miller sources materials which trace her family memories, heritage and history relating back to the home of her childhood surrounded by William Morris wallpaper and the English charm of Ainsley tea sets. The pieces that Miller creates are enriched by the use of different textures, materials and patterns. Working with a traditional company based in Stoke in Trent – the historical home of Britain’s ceramics industry - Miller’s new detailing and intuitive gestures are transferred by hand onto bone china and then re-fired in the kiln, transforming discarded objects into contemporary, timeless pieces.
